Democratic Nomination for
City Council Vacancy Special Election
June 3, 2022
Good afternoon, Roanoke Democrats.
Only one candidate properly filed to be a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the Roanoke City Council Special Election by the filing deadline of 6:00 pm June 2, 2022. As stated in the Call to Caucus adopted by Roanoke City Democratic Committee, the Nominating Committee "shall cancel the caucus and declare that person the nominee." Therefore, the Assembled Caucus previously scheduled for Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Patrick Henry High School Auditorium has been canceled.
Luke Wilcox Priddy is declared the Democratic nominee for the November 2022 Special Election for Roanoke City Council to fill the remainder of the unexpired 2-year term of office, commencing January 1, 2023, and expiring December 31, 2024.
Today, I'm pleased to announce I filed the official Party Certification of Non-Primary Candidate (Virginia Code Section 4.2-511) with the Roanoke City Director of Elections and General Registrar. Please join us in congratulating Luke.
All our best,
RCDC Nominating Committee Chair Sandra Whitley Ryals
Nominating Committee Members
