RCDC Reorganization Overview 2026
The Roanoke City Democratic Committee will reorganize at an assembled caucus on January 10, 2026, beginning promptly at 10 a.m. The caucus will take place at the Hamlar Event Center, 4516 Melrose Ave. NW. The doors to the caucus will open at 9 a.m. and will close at 10 a.m, permitting only those who are in line to register by 10 a.m. to enter. Preregistration for the caucus is encouraged, in order to facilitate the registration process. Preregistration means filling out the Caucus Pledge Form available at roanokedemocrats.com or by emailing the secretary (secretary@roanokedemocrats.com). The form must be submitted by January 3, 2026 at 12 noon. Those wishing to run for election as an RCDC officer must prefile by January 3, 2026 at 12 noon, by filling out the Officer Filing Form available at roanokedemocrats.com, or by emailing the secretary at the address above. Nominations from the floor of the caucus can only be taken if no person prefiles to run for a particular office. There will not be a virtual attendance option for this meeting.
The caucus will be conducted according to the temporary rules available at roanokedemocrats.com unless amended by the caucus participants. The same documents will be made available via the RCDC newsletter and through social media posts. Individuals unable to attend the caucus may apply for membership by seeking nomination at a regularly scheduled RCDC meeting. Those who are current RCDC members must go through the same process in order to be members of the reorganized RCDC. Questions may be addressed to the chair (chair@roanokedemocrats.com).
